NH expects share of Pfizer drug settlement

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- New Hampshire is expected to get more than $168,000 as part of a national settlement with drugmaker Pfizer Inc.

The Justice Department said Tuesday that New-York based Pfizer agreed to pay $257 million in civil settlements with federal and state governments and a $157 million criminal fine. The deal settles allegations that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, which Pfizer bought in 2009, trained sales representatives to encourage doctors to prescribe Rapamune for uses other than preventing rejection of transplanted kidneys, even giving them bonuses for doing so.

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph Foster said Wednesday that New Hampshire's share amounts to more than $168,000.
