NHL Plays: Saturday

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that with only game on the schedule that FanDuel allows you to roster five players, including a captain worth 1.5 points, with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a salary cap of $50,000 for six players, including a captain at 1.5 times the points, and they have goaltenders as an option.

Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay) – $15,500 FanDuel, $16,200 DraftKings

Kucherov is expensive, but he’s a pretty good option to serve as your captain. He excelled against the defensively superb Islanders, scoring two goals and 10 points in six games. It will be equally difficult for the Dallas Stars to contain him.

Jamie Benn (Dallas) - $15,000 FanDuel, $12,000 DraftKings

Benn is a good alternative captain to Kucherov if you believe that the Stars will take Game 1 and he’s a particularly good pick in DraftKings. Like Kucherov, Benn has been hot lately. In Benn’s case, he’s found the back of the net in each of his last three games.

Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay) - $12,500 FanDuel, $13,800 DraftKings

Hedman got off to a slow start in the 2020 playoffs from an offensive perspective, but the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders were unable to contain him. Since the start of the second round, he’s recorded 12 points in 11 games, including an incredible eight goals. From Aug. 23 onward, he’s tied with teammate Ondrej Palat for the most goals in the league with eight. Not bad for a defenseman.

Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay) - $15,600 DraftKings

Taking a goaltender is only an option in DraftKings, but I recommend doing so because the Lightning and Stars feature two of the best and hottest goaltenders in the league. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Game 1 is a low-scoring affair. I’m picking Vasilevskiy because I think the Lightning are the favorites in this series, but for those favoring the Stars with their picks today, Anton Khudobin is a great choice to go along with that strategy.

Bargain Bin: Kevin Shattenkirk (TB) - $8,500 FanDuel/$9,600 DraftKings, Anthony Cirelli (TB) - $8,000 FanDuel/$9,300 DraftKings, Denis Gurianov (DAL) - $8,000 FanDuel/$9,900 DraftKings, Barclay Goodrow (TB) - $7,500 FanDuel/$6,900 DraftKings.
