It's been a week of disappointments for former Jaime Lannister Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. First his pitch for an Arya Stark-led spin-off sequel to Game of Thrones got knocked back by HBO CEO Casey Bloys, and now he's been ruminating on the slightly rushed end Jaime and Cersei met when a castle fell on their heads.

"I wish there’d been more stuff with Cersei once they finally meet in the climax," he told Entertainment Weekly. "But there are a lot of characters in this show."

That's not to say he's being mopey - Coster-Waldau's happy with where Jaime and Cersei's story ended.

"I thought it was a great ending for that couple," he explained. "She was never going to surrender. And he says it to Bronn in season four. Bronn asked, 'How would you want it to end?' And Jaime says, 'In the arms of the woman I love.' So this was foreshadowed and that’s what happened. There’s a least a moment that they do connect: 'Just look at me, just look in my eyes, it’s just you and me…'"

In fact, Coster-Waldau buzzed off the whole finale and isn't entirely sure what some fans who didn't like the ending are being so mardy about.

"I don’t think they could have done it any better," he said. "It makes sense. There’s a logic to it without it being obvious at all."
