Nissan Unveils New Pathfinder Hybrid

Nissan Motor Co. (NSANY) recently showcased the new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder hybrid at the international auto show in New York, which has started on Mar 29 and ends on Apr 7. The commercial launch of the vehicle is scheduled in summer this year.

The latest version of the iconic sports utility vehicle (:SUV) is designed to address the rising demand for fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles. The 2014 model is equipped with 2.5-liter gasoline engine, 15 kW electric motor along with a compact lithium-ion battery, and advanced Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch hybrid control system. This control system manages the power from the electric motor as well as from the gas engine.

The 2014 model provides increased fuel efficiency together with sufficient passenger and cargo spaces. However, the new vehicle is priced at $3,000, which is higher than the price of standard 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine-powered Pathfinder models.

Apart from the Pathfinder hybrid, Nissan displayed Nissan Mobility Taxi – the wheelchair accessible version of the Nissan NV200 Taxi – at the New York International Auto Show. This is a part of the Nissan’s NV200 ‘Taxi of Tomorrow’ program.

With the introduction of 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid and NV200 Mobility Taxi, Nissan plans to offer customers with innovative solutions for the modern challenges and intends to achieve 100% zero emissions standard.

At the New York International Auto show, General Motors Company (GM) also showcased the redesigned 2014 Buick LaCrosse. The mid-sized luxury sedan features LED daytime running lamps and LED tail lamps. The sculpted body shape of the vehicle including new grill will help in reducing aerodynamic drag and improve fuel efficiency.

Japanese automaker, Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) revealed the 2014 Highlander at the auto show. The interiors of the vehicle are inspired from RAV4 and include further modification and sophistication. Another Japanese automaker, Honda Motor Co. (HMC) showcased the 2014 Odyssey minivan at the show.

Nissan Motor is one of the largest automakers in the world. The company, along with its subsidiaries, engages in the production and sale of automotive products, industrial machinery and marine equipment, primarily in Japan, North America, and Europe. It manufactures passenger cars, trucks, buses, forklifts, light commercial vehicles, power trains and parts, apart from offering sales financing activities. Currently, Nissan maintains a Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell).
