EMERYVILLE, Calif., Dec. 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NMI Holdings, Inc. (NMIH) today announced that National Mortgage Insurance Corporation (National MI), its wholly owned insurance subsidiary, has elected a 20% cession rate for its 2019 new insurance written (NIW) in accordance with the terms of its existing quota share reinsurance treaty (QSR). Under the terms of its QSR, the company has ceded 25% of its 2018 NIW to a highly rated panel of third-party reinsurers. The QSR provides National MI the option, at its sole discretion, to change the cession rate on its 2019 NIW from 25% to a level between 20% and 30%, subject to certain customary limitations, exclusions and conditions. All other terms of the QSR, including the ceding commission and profit commission paid to National MI, will remain in effect as before this election.
