PG&E Corporation (PCG) Q3 Earnings Top, Revenues Lag Estimates

PG&E Corp.'s (PCG) total operating expenses in the reported quarter totaled $3,685 million, up 1.5% from $3,631 million in third-quarter 2017.

Noble Corporation plc NE was a big mover last session, as the company saw its shares rise more than 5% on the day. The move came on solid volume too with far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This breaks the recent trend of the company, as the stock is now trading above the volatile price range of $5.64 to $6.51 in the past one-month time frame.

The company has seen a mixed track record when it comes to estimate revision of one increase and no decrease over the past few weeks, while the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current quarter remained unchanged. The recent price action is encouraging though, so make sure to keep a close watch on this firm in the near future.

Noble currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) while its Earnings ESP is negative.

Bank of America declares ‘the end of the 60-40’ standard portfolio

Investors have long been told that the ideal portfolio should carry 60% of its holdings in equities and 40% in bonds, a mix that provides greater exposure to historically superior stock returns, while also granting the diversification benefits and lower risk of fixed-income investments. But in a research note published by Bank of America Securities, titled “The End of 60/40,” portfolio strategists Derek Harris and Jared Woodard argue that “there are good reasons to reconsider the role of bonds in your portfolio,” and to allocate a greater share toward equities.

Silver Price Forecast – Silver Markets Continue To Consolidate

Silver markets are likely to continue to be very noisy, as the global economic situation is the same. If that's going to be the case, then it makes quite a bit of sense that the market is essentially waiting to figure out how certain things play out, including not the least of which will be the US/China trade relations, Brexit, and of course central banks around the world cutting interest rates and liquefy the markets. As long as that's going to be the reality, gold and silver both should get some type of bid.

Eight Corporate Jets: What Is This, the '80s?

D.E. Shaw Group on Tuesday released a letter calling for the $42 billion industrial company to spin off its climate division and make productivity and corporate-governance improvements, including culling its fleet of eight corporate jets and a helicopter. The public pressure follows reports late last month that D.E. Shaw was seeking a breakup of the company and Emerson's subsequent announcement that it would review its operations. In its letter, D.E. Shaw takes issue with the lack of tangible commitments and deadlines for Emerson's strategic review and stresses that some of its recommendations – such as making all board directors subject to annual elections – shouldn't require that much deliberation in this day and age.

Oxy Stock Offers the Buffett Experience (Sort Of)

Buffett's cash also helped Oxy avoid putting the deal to its own shareholders — although many appear to have voted it down anyway, in a manner of speaking: Oxy's stint in the doghouse partly reflects fear, with oil dropping just as Oxy's debt ballooned. For at least the next year or so, the equity story looks yoked to the twists and turns of the trade war, which is as unsettling as it sounds. More importantly, though, Oxy's bet on Anadarko has put it at loggerheads with what investors want from oil companies these days.
