BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) _ Noodles & Co. (NDLS) on Wednesday reported a loss of $5.8 million in its first quarter.
The Broomfield, Colorado-based company said it had a loss of 13 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for pretax expenses and asset impairment costs, were 9 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 10 cents per share.
The restaurant chain posted revenue of $100.3 million in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $101 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $4.62. A year ago, they were trading at $7.61.
