The Westlake, Ohio-based company said it had profit of $1.47 per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains, came to $1.44 per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.47 per share.
The maker of adhesives and industrial coatings posted revenue of $569.3 million in the period, beating Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $560.4 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $377.4 million, or $6.40 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.25 billion.
Nordson shares have fallen 23 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $112.07, a drop of nearly 10 percent in the last 12 months.
