North Korea carried out missile test, U.S. officials say

WASHINGTON, April 28 (Reuters) - U.S. officials said on Friday they had tracked a North Korean missile launch and were working to determine the type of missile used and the distance it flew.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the test took place around 4:30 p.m. EST (2030 GMT).

Earlier, South Korea's military said North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile on Saturday from a region north of its capital but it appeared to have failed. (Reporting by Idrees Ali; Editing by James Dalgleish)
