Is Now The Time To Look At Buying AAON, Inc. (NASDAQ:AAON)?

In this article:

AAON, Inc. (NASDAQ:AAON), which is in the building business, and is based in United States, saw a double-digit share price rise of over 10% in the past couple of months on the NASDAQGS. As a US$2.6b market cap stock, it seems odd AAON is not more well-covered by analysts. Although, there is more of an opportunity for mispricing in stocks with low coverage, which can be a good thing. So, could the stock still be trading at a low price relative to its actual value? Let’s take a look at AAON’s outlook and value based on the most recent financial data to see if the opportunity still exists.

What is AAON worth?

According to my relative valuation model, the stock is currently overvalued. In this instance, I’ve used the price-to-earnings (PE) ratio given that there is not enough information to reliably forecast the stock’s cash flows. I find that AAON’s ratio of 52.01x is above its peer average of 21.7x, which suggests the stock is overvalued compared to the Building industry. In addition to this, it seems like AAON’s share price is quite stable, which could mean two things: firstly, it may take the share price a while to fall back down to an attractive buying range, and secondly, there may be less chances to buy low in the future once it reaches that value. This is because the stock is less volatile than the wider market given its low beta.

Are you a shareholder? AAON’s optimistic future growth appears to have been factored into the current share price, with shares trading above its fair value.
