On a per-share basis, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had net income of $2.07.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.93 per share.
The steel company posted revenue of $6.3 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.29 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $2.36 billion, or $7.42 per share. Revenue was reported as $25.07 billion.
Nucor shares have climbed 13 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 5.5 percent. The stock has decreased 16 percent in the last 12 months.
