SASKATOON, Saskatchewan (AP) _ Nutrien Ltd. (NTR) on Thursday reported first-quarter earnings of $41 million.
On a per-share basis, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based company said it had profit of 7 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 20 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 24 cents per share.
The producer of potash and other fertilizers posted revenue of $3.69 billion in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.94 billion.
Nutrien expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.80 to $3.20 per share.
Nutrien shares have increased roughly 8% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $50.59, a rise of almost 4% in the last 12 months.
