SASKATOON, Saskatchewan (AP) _ Nutrien Ltd. (NTR) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $3.2 billion, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based company said it had profit of $5.22. Earnings, adjusted to account for discontinued operations, came to 54 cents per share.
The results matched Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 54 cents per share.
The producer of potash and other fertilizers posted revenue of $3.76 billion in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $3.57 billion, or $5.72 per share. Revenue was reported as $19.64 billion.
Nutrien expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.80 to $3.20 per share.
Nutrien shares have increased 10 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $51.85, a climb of 11 percent in the last 12 months.
