Nutrien posts profit as potash prices rise

May 9 (Reuters) - Canadian fertilizer maker Nutrien Ltd on Thursday posted a quarterly profit, compared with a year-earlier loss, as it benefited from higher potash prices.

The company, formed by the merger of Agrium Inc and Potash Corp of Saskatchewan in early 2018, reported net income from continuing operations of $41 million in the first quarter ended March 31 from a loss of $1 million, a year ago.

Sales rose marginally to $3.69 billion.
