NY State Assembly passes U.S.'s first gun control law since Newtown, AP says

The New York State Assembly passed a gun control law that calls for a tougher assault weapons ban, restrictions on ammunition and the sale of guns, and contains provisions to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill who make threats, according to an AP report. The report says this bill is the first gun control measure passed in the U.S. since the Newtown, CT school shooting and was passed by a 104-43 vote.
