The Houston-based company said it had a loss of 7 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 1 cent per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.
The energy services company posted revenue of $274.6 million in the period, missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $274.7 million.
Oil States International shares have fallen 19 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed nearly 7 percent in the last 12 months.
