On a per-share basis, the Thomasville, North Carolina-based company said it had net income of $1.95.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.74 per share.
The trucking company posted revenue of $1.03 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.02 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $605.7 million, or $7.38 per share. Revenue was reported as $4.04 billion.
Old Dominion shares have increased 13 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 1 percent in the last 12 months.
