Olivia Rodrigo Celebrates High School Graduation

Olivia Rodrigo is officially done with high school!

The “good 4 u” singer took to Instagram on Saturday, June 19 to celebrate the big milestone. In a series of Polaroid photos, Olivia showed off her cap and gown, striking a signature peace sign pose with a silly face. She also shared a pic of the back of a car that was painted with the words: “Just ‘Graditated!’”

In the comments, some fans congratulated Olivia on getting her diploma and her drivers license, while others pointed out that the 18-year-old has already accomplished so much before the end of high school — like an SNL appearance and the biggest album debut of the year, not to mention starring in a Disney TV show all while getting her degree. Whew!

And it definitely doesn’t seem like Olivia is slowing down anytime soon. Just a few weeks after dropping her debut album, Sour, the singer-songwriter is back with a brand-new track titled “The Rose Song,” which appeared on the latest episode of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

The track, which she wrote specifically for the show, comes into play when Olivia’s character Nini is cast as The Rose in East High’s production of Beauty and the Beast — an innovative casting decision courtesy of Miss Jenn. “I'm really proud of it. I think it's really fun to write from the perspective of somebody that is not you,” Olivia shared in an interview with People, adding that she was tasked with writing a “feminist song from the perspective of the rose.”

However, like Olivia’s other songs, there’s plenty of universal — and personal — elements throughout the lyrics and music. “It's just really about Nini realizing that she is not how other people perceive her. That is not who she is,” she explained to People. “And she's sort of coming into her own and finding her individuality. And I think that's a really important process for any teenager to go through…. I think all of us can feel restricted whether it's by outside forces or by other people's opinions.”
