Each generation of Americans has suffered in its own way during these post-recession years, but only one age group has managed to go the past year without reducing its unemployment rate. It's 20-to-24-year olds. Life imitates Girls.
Young twenty-somethings still have nothing on U.S. teenagers when it comes to difficulty finding a job. And while there are actually fewer teens working today than a year ago, the number of Americans working in their early twenties has actually edged up a bit. So their slightly elevated unemployment rate is probably a result of the fact that more of them are looking for work than any deterioration in the job market. But consider this a reminder that, yes, it's still a pretty god-awful time to be starting your working life.
