Web browser Opera will be adding support for the TRON blockchain, with more to follow in the next 12 months, the Next Web's Hard Fork writes. Currently, the browser supports only Ethereum blockchain and Ethereum-based tokens.

Thanks to the integration, it will be possible to access TRON-powered dapps and tokens. Moreover, Opera’s cryptocurrency wallet will also add support for TRC-standard tokens, including TRX.

“We are excited that Opera, a mainstream browser with hundreds of millions of users, will now seamlessly support TRX and other TRON tokens,” said Justin Sun CEO of TRON. “Soon, Opera users will be able to use dapps on the TRON blockchain.”

The reason to integrate TRON to the browser stems from the fact TRON is “one of the fastest developing blockchains with plenty of dapps.” However, while TRON is a fast growing ecosystem—with more than $1 billion transaction volume noted in the first quarter of 2019—much of the activity comes from gambling and high-risk apps.
