Magic guard Terrence Ross leaves bubble for non-coronavirus testing

Orlando guard Terrence Ross left the NBA bubble at Walt Disney World on Sunday to undergo non-COVID-19 related testing, the Magic announced on Monday.

It’s not clear what testing caused Ross to leave the bubble.

“The NBA physician here wanted him to get tested so that’s what happened,” Magic coach Steve Clifford said Monday, via the Orlando Sentinel

He did not provide any other information on Ross’ health or status. Ross will miss the Magic’s game on Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets

Ross is averaging 14.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game off the bench this season, his eighth in the league. He’s put up 14.3 points per game inside the bubble, and he dropped 18 points and had seven rebounds in their 122-119 overtime loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday.

It’s unclear when the 29-year-old will return to the bubble, though he will have to quarantine for at least four days once he does. The Magic have a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday before the postseason starts. They secured their spot in the playoffs with the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference and will take on the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round next week.

The team is already down forward Jonathan Isaac, who tore his ACL earlier this month, and had numerous players miss time.

Losing Ross for a significant amount of time will undoubtedly make their quest to upset the Bucks in the first round that much harder.
