Overseas data, housing on calendar

Today's event calendar begins with international economic reports in the overnight session, followed by housing data in the United States.

China was scheduled to report its purchasing managers index late last night, followed by Germany, France, and the Eurozone early this morning. The numbers could affect sentiment toward stocks and commodities.

The U.S. data begins at 9 a.m. ET with the FHFA house price index, followed one hour later by new home sales for March. Economists don't track the FHFA report, but home sales are expected to come in at an annualized pace of 415,000, up from 411,000 in February.

The Richmond Federal Reserve will release its index of regional economic activity at 10 a.m. ET.
