Paris Jackson slams rumors she's headed to rehab after Demi Lovato's apparent overdose

Paris Jackson is shutting down reports that she’s headed to rehab in response to Demi Lovato’s apparent overdose. Lovato, who was hospitalized July 25, is said to be fighting “complications” from her health scare.

While it remains unclear if the pop star will seek professional treatment once she makes a full recovery, Jackson has also found herself the subject of rehab speculation. Sources told the gossip site RadarOnline that the 20-year-old model and actress was taking Lovato’s reported overdose as a warning to focus on her own sobriety.

Demi almost died,” a source claimed. “And that was a big trigger for Paris to get healthy.”

Not so, says Jackson, who is the daughter of the late Michael Jackson. Though she has been open about getting treatment for drug abuse and depression while attending a therapeutic school in Utah in her teens, Jackson says there’s no truth to the talk of her return to rehab.

“I haven’t gone to a clinic,” she responded to a fan who shared the Lovato-linked rehab rumor. “Someone doesn’t have to die for me to know to be healthy. I’ve already had friends OD and die. That’s enough for me.”

Hours later, she tweeted a follow-up message:

In an interview with Rolling Stone last year, Jackson identified herself as sober and spoke of the self-harm, cyberbullying, drug addiction, and sexual assault that tormented her as a teen. She also referred to her experience at the Utah school, where she spent her sophomore and part of her junior year in high school following multiple suicide attempts.

“It was great for me,” she told the magazine. “I’m a completely different person.” The article reads: “Before, she says with a small smile, ‘I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like, teen angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help.'”
