The column addressing or data retrieval is performed on the same set of pins during their respective read and write cycles. This technique reduces the number of pins required for different purposes such as reading, writing, addressing, etc. Also, the reduced number of pins helps to increase data bandwidth and address range capabilities of the DRAM device.
The portfolio for sale also discloses system architecture for digital modem control of simultaneously controlling voice and data flow in the ADSL. The disclose system uses two existing telephone lines that connect a telephone company central office to the user and each line operates as a full duplex line. Each duplex line is further dynamically configured with a direction assignment of high speed and low speed channels. As required for uploading or downloading, the direction of data exchange on these channels are swapped or data rates are varied for both uploading and downloading content desired by the user. The assets for sale cover a technique for configuring arrays of programmable logic cells, including those associated with field-programmable gate array (FPGA) devices, through a novel DRAM-based configuration control structure that enables not only "on-the-fly" alterable chip and similar device reconfigurations, but, where desired, self-modifying reconfigurations for differing functionalities of the devices. This advancement eliminates current limitations in reconfigurability while providing significant performance enhancement at low cost. A large amount of memory is available to the FPGA and is accessed with a small number of pins such that the reconfiguration time is, for example, four orders of magnitude faster than the traditional approaches and at notably low cost.
