His beard is appalling and his release is nasty, but Patrik Laine, above all else, is creeping closer and closer to cementing himself as the most productive teenage hockey player we’ve ever seen.

Just days after scoring his 77th goal (pre-20th birthday) and surpassing Wayne Gretzky and Brian Bellows on the all-time teenage goal-scoring list, Laine continued to build his legend as he grabbed a helper on Paul Stastny’s first period tally against the Blackhawks to extend his point-scoring streak to 14 games.

It’s now the longest point streak by a teenager in NHL history, surpassing Nathan Mackinnon’s run of 13 consecutive contests in 2013-14. Rounding out the list are Gretzky, Joe Sakic and Jimmy Carson, who each had 12-game point streaks as U20’s in the 1980’s. Since the start of the 2016-17 season Laine has scored the most goals in the NHL — ahead of Alex Ovechkin (75), Nikita Kucherov (74) and Evgeni Malkin (72).

He also does stuff like this curl and drag combination which, is just, I don’t know:

Though he went goalless on the night, it was only the second time the 19-year-old hasn’t posted a tally in a game since February 13th.

Laine, who is firmly entrenched in a battle for the Rocket Richard Trophy with fellow goalie-slayer Ovechkin, recently scored his 77th as a teenager to move into third spot behind only Dale Hawerchuk (85) and Carson (82) on the list.

He leads the Jets with 41 goals and sits second in team scoring with 66 points and has 11 regular season games left to keep making moves before he turns into a 20-year-old fogey.
