This bag accidentally spells the word “Hitler” instead of “glitter,” and people are not happy
We know very few things can top the dress kerfuffle of 2015, but this glitter-Hitler tote design is coming pretty close, and (understandably) causing major internet outrage. When online store BelleChic released a new tote bag, they probably didn’t expect to indirectly pay homage to the German dictator. However, Twitter users were quick to notice that the font used on the bag made the word “glitter” look a lot like “Hitler”.
Many might not see it at first glance, but once you *do* see it, you won’t be able to not. If you look closely, you’ll notice the curl of the “g” links to the “l” to form a perfect “H.” See it?
So, if you’re in the market for a new tote bag or just obsessed with all things glitter, you may want to avoid this one.
People were angry about the new tote design (and for good reason) and shared their thoughts via Twitter.

The tote was made by Quotable Life, and is still currently on sale, but after the tweet storm, the image of the bag was changed. “Glitter” is now written in a new font, making the word much easier to read accurately.
Matt Molen, Chief Marketing Officer for BelleChic, confirmed that the font was indeed updated in response to the backlash faced by the company.
“While I realize that most of the social media buzz and commentary has been tongue-in cheek, the type of abhorrent sentiment conveyed as part of the misinterpretation absolutely does not align with our company values, nor is it something we would ever want to encourage or support,” Molen told Allure.
We all make mistakes, and we’re glad that the company responded to the situation so swiftly. We’ll just take this as a lesson in typography.
