Peoples Financial Services posts 1Q profit

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) _ Peoples Financial Services Corp. (PFIS) on Monday reported first-quarter profit of $4.8 million.

The bank, based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, said it had earnings of 65 cents per share.

The holding company for Peoples Security Bank and Trust posted revenue of $21.6 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $19.6 million.

Peoples Financial Services shares have decreased slightly more than 9 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $44.13, a rise of 16 percent in the last 12 months.
