Phil Kessel's Christmas present brings young Penguins fan to tears

Despite the Penguins’ 4-2 loss to the Avalanche on Monday night, one Pittsburgh fan couldn’t have been happier as she left Colorado’s Pepsi Center.

During the pre-game warmups, a young Phil Kessel fan held a sign against the glass that read, “Kessel #1 fan, all I want for Christmas is a signed stick and photo,” and Kessel decided to make that wish come true.

The 30-year-old, two-time Stanley Cup winner signed his stick at the bench and posed for a photo with the young girl through the glass, bringing one of his biggest fans to tears.

It’s no secret that Kessel is a fan favorite throughout the league. Whether it’s his on-ice play or his off-ice personality, Kessel is the kind of player that can draw a crowd even at away games. It’s stories like this one that remind us of what sports are really all about.

The Penguins came up short Monday night, moving to a 17-15 record on the season. They will return home on Thursday for a game against the Blue Jackets.
