Phlatbed Strengthens Relationship with Stripe for Payment Processing

Platform now includes Amex, VISA, Mastercard and Masterpass on Apple Pay and Google Pay

NORWALK, Conn., Oct. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Phlatbed, the on-demand delivery platform for nearly anything, today announced the expansion of its partnership with Stripe to include Apple Pay and Google Pay for its users.

"Our unique position in the gig economy requires that we give our users multiple payment options," said Alani Kuye, CEO of Phlatbed. "Some users have stated that the payment process was too structured, to the point of being confusing. After thorough analysis, we decided to extend our relationship with Stripe, given that they have stood by us since inception and continue to support our massive scaling-out effort."

Some of the unique and industry-leading features and benefits of Stripe's payment platform include:

  • Ability to pay using AMEX, VISA, Mastercard or Masterpass
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay capabilities
  • Biometric authentication via Apple Pay capabilities
  • Sign in via Apple ID and Google Pay for iPhone users

"We took a design-first approach with simplicity and familiarity in mind. This fits well into our user profile for both gig workers and gig economy service requesters," Kuye continued. "With over 30,000 active drivers and another 41,000 joining by year's end, some of the potential partners we looked at simply didn't fit into our near-term or long-term plans structurally or operationally. We needed a platform that fits squarely with our platform, and scales aggressively alongside."

"The Stripe backhaul also uses sophisticated machine learning to provide unrivaled fraud protection and security safeguards that protect our users, drivers and their customers against fraudulent transactions."

The company rolled out these updates in mid-September 2019.
