Pippa Middleton and James Matthews Do His-and-Hers Style at the French Open
While some may be spending Memorial Day weekend at the beach, others, like Pippa Middleton and James Matthews, are soaking up the sun on the green—tennis green, that is. When the pair took their seats in the stands at the French Open on Saturday, they shielded themselves from the rays by sporting his-and-hers straw fedoras that were nothing short of a couples style grand slam.
Of course Middleton and Matthews have had some practice in this department: They began synching up their style as early as their honeymoon last summer—and it usually takes the form of preppy off-duty pieces, as evidenced here. This time, a now-expectant Middleton wrapped up in a pretty wrap dress that flattered her changing figure. As anyone who is carrying can attest to, comfortable shoes are key, and she met that challenge head on in her signature Castaner Urban lace-up espadrilles—a style she’s been sporting since she became a Mrs. A whimsical straw cross-body bag added a layer of texture, and left her hands free to hold on to her husband.
As for James, he kept things nice and cool in a crisp white button-down sans tie and khaki chinos. But he stepped up his accessories game, so to speak, in driving shoes matched to a linen jacket in the same shade. In keeping with his wife’s pitch-perfect styling, the pops of navy tied in perfectly with the ribbon on his fedora. They finished the moment with classic Ray-Bans that, much like their hats, are sure to come in handy centre court.
