Plug Power: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

LATHAM, N.Y. (AP) _ Plug Power Inc. (PLUG) on Thursday reported a loss of $25.9 million in its second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Latham, New York-based company said it had a loss of 12 cents.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 8 cents per share.

The alternative energy company posted revenue of $39.9 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $41.6 million.

For the current quarter ending in October, Plug Power said it expects revenue in the range of $47 million to $52 million.

The company's shares closed at $1.99. A year ago, they were trading at $2.17.
