SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- PMC-Sierra, which makes chips for communications equipment, has named Steven J. Geiser as its chief financial officer.
Geiser succeeds Mike Zellner, whose resignation was announced over the summer. Zellner has agreed to stay on through year's end to help with the transition process.
The Sunnyvale, Calif. company said Monday that Geiser will be responsible for its overall financial direction. He most recently served as CFO of Trilliant Networks Inc.
Geiser will also get the title vice president and will report to PMC-Sierra Inc. President and CEO Greg Lang.
The company's stock rose 11 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $4.90 in afternoon trading. Over the past year, the shares have traded in a range of $4.63 to $7.80.
