Popeyes' flounder sandwich is back in time for Lenten season

Popeyes is bringing back two seafood menu items before Lent.

The New Orleans-style chicken chain is offering the Flounder Fish Sandwich and the Shrimp Tackle Box at participating restaurants nationwide, but only for a limited time.

The Flounder Fish Sandwich, introduced in 2021, features a flounder filet marinated in Louisiana herbs and spices served on a toasted brioche bun. Customers can choose from spicy or classic varieties.

The $6 Shrimp Tackle Box includes eight butterfly shrimp served with a regular side, a biscuit and tartar sauce. And guests can make the meal a Surf and Turf box, with four butterfly shrimp, two chicken tenders, a biscuit and a regular side.

"Our Flounder Fish Sandwich and Shrimp Tackle Box offerings are popular menu items we like to reintroduce this time of the year as we adapt our menu for the Lenten season," Popeyes President Sami Siddiqui said in a press release.

Lent is the 40-day season of fasting and prayer before Easter. During the Lenten season, many Catholics forgo meat on Fridays.

Popeyes BOGO deal

Popeyes is spreading the love beyond Valentine's Day and offering its buy one, get one sandwich deal until Feb. 19.

Customers can buy one sandwich combo and get another a la carte sandwich (chicken or fish) for free on the Popeyes app and online.

Popeyes is also offering free signature chicken, tenders, nuggets or a chicken sandwich when you place your first order on the Popeyes app or online and spend a minimum of $10 at participating restaurants.
