Want something sweet to go with that chicken sandwich?

Popeyes (QSR) — which skyrocketed to viral fame last year by launching the opening salvo in the chicken sandwich wars, introducing its own tasty competitor to Chick-fil-A’s beloved version — has now cooked up chocolate beignets.

The sweet, doughy treats, stuffed with melted Hershey’s chocolate (HSY), loaded with powdered sugar and then deep fried, are now available at select Popeyes locations across the U.S. — for a limited time.

Customers can purchase three, six, or 12 beignets for $1.99, $3.99 and $7.49, respectively, and fans are already licking their lips at the pastry, which traces its origin through New Orleans.

The desserts were tested on markets in both Boston and Baltimore in October, and reportedly received rave reviews. They even inspired a line of $35 black sweatshirts splattered with what appears to resemble powdered sugar.

The hoodies — appropriately dubbed the “Beignet Camo” to “camouflage the inevitable mess” that comes from eating a beignet — are now available at ThatLookFromPopeyes.com.

Currently, the only permanent dessert on the Popeyes menu is the cinnamon apple pie, although limited offerings like beignets are routinely offered in certain regions.

Since the launch of its now wildly successful fried chicken sandwich, Popeyes has reported double-digit same-store sales growth every quarter — even amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The company has been a bright spot for parent firm Restaurant Brands, which also owns Burger King and Tim Hortons.
