A Portage man was seriously injured in Saukville when he was sprayed with heated oil used to make asphalt

A Portage man was hospitalized Wednesday after he was sprayed with hot oil used in the production of asphalt.

The man, 53, was transferring heated oil used to make asphalt from a tanker truck to a holding tank at the Ozaukee County Asphalt Plant, 3979 Lakeland Road, Saukville at about 11:15 a.m. when the accident occurred, according to a news release from the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office,.

Flight For Life took the man to Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Regional Burn Center.

The investigation is ongoing.

Departments assisting in the response were Saukville Fire Department, Grafton Fire Department, Port Washington Fire Department, Fredonia Fire Department, Ozaukee County Emergency Management and the Ozaukee County Highway Department.
