Power service to Leeds, Maine, should improve due to grid improvements
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- Central Maine Power Company says it's completed work on a $1.74 million power grid project that will improve service to homes and businesses in the northern Androscoggin County town of Leeds.
It's the second major project to be completed in the area in two years. Last spring, CMP energized a new substation that provides a new power source for communities in northern Androscoggin County.
CMP President Sara Burns says the company and its parent Iberdrola USA are investing nearly $430 million in improving their grid. She says the improvements are creating thousands of construction jobs while ensuring long-term grid reliability.
