Prince George's fifth birthday marked with new official portrait from Kensington Palace
A new picture of Prince George has been released by Kensington Palace to mark his fifth birthday.
Taken in the gardens of Clarence House by Matt Porteous, the photograph shows the young royal smiling as he stands against a brick wall with his hands behind his back.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new photograph of Prince George to mark his fifth birthday," Kensington Palace wrote on Twitter, alongside a balloon emoji.
"Thank you everyone for your lovely messages."
Prince George appeared to be wearing same outfit as he did to his baby brother Louis’ christening earlier this month, suggesting the portrait was taken on the same day.
The short-sleeved white top with blue piping is called the “Daniel Shirt” and costs £42.
Made by Franco-Spanish boutique Amaia Kids, the brand is quickly becoming a firm favourite with the royal family.

Last year, Prince George sported an Amaia Kids blue and white button down shirt for his fourth birthday portrait and, in his first official photograph with his younger sister Charlotte, he wore a £7 pair of socks by the same designer.
It is likely that Prince George will celebrate his birthday with his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The party might take place in the Caribbean as William and Kate are rumoured to have taken their children to the island of Mustqiue for a family holiday, The Observer reports.
A welcomed break for Prince George we’re sure, who has had a busy year welcoming a new little brother, completing his first year of school and appearing on Buckingham Palace’s balcony to mark his great grandmother, the Queen’s, official birthday.
