Prince George: Kensington Palace releases new photographs to mark royal’s birthday

Kensington Palace has released new photographs of Prince George to mark the Royal’s sixth birthday.

The three snaps were taken by the youngster’s mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, earlier this summer.

In two images, taken in the gardens of Kensington Palace, the toothy-grinned Prince wears an England football shirt. The photograph is thought to have been taken during the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which saw England miss out on a spot in the final after losing 2-1 to the United States.

In a third photograph, the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wears a dark green polo shirt and blue and white striped shorts.

Naturally, royal fans have been quick to gush over the images on social media and share their birthday wishes.

“How cute is #PrinceGeorge !!!” enthused one person on Twitter. “Not the little boy anymore, so grown up looking! @KensingtonRoyal please pass on my well wishes to Prince George and wish him the happiest of birthdays.”

Another added: “I remember waiting all day by the TV, not moving just waiting for the announcement of birth for this sweet Prince! Happy birthday!!”

Meanwhile, many people said the child bore a striking resemblance to his father, the Duke of Cambridge.

“Wow, he looks exactly like his dad! Happy 6th Birthday, Prince George!” wrote one person.

Another concurred that George “looks just like Prince William as a kid”, adding: “he looks a little like Diana too”.

The photographs follow those taken by the Duchess to celebrate the birthdays of her two other children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Charlotte turned four on 2 May while Louis marked his first birthday on 23 April.
