Do Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Children Have the World’s Best Babysitters?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently on a five-day royal tour of Pakistan. But while they’re abroad, who is looking after their three children at their Kensington Palace home?

According to People, George, Charlotte, and Louis are being cared for not only by their trusted nanny but also by their grandparents, Mike and Carole Middleton, who have taken a very active role in attending to the children while their parents fulfill their royal travel obligations. Some of the babysitting duties no doubt include dropping George and Charlotte off at their posh London School, Thomas’s Battersea.

Kate Middleton’s parents also pitched in as babysitters this summer, when they kept an eye on Prince George and Princess Charlotte at the King’s Cup Regatta on the Isle of Wight. The children looked to be having a blast under their grandparents’ supervision—George was spotted on a boat deck grinning ear to ear in a captain’s hat.

Carole and Michael Middleton seem to play a major role in their grandchildren’s lives. The young family often spends Christmas with them at their Bucklebury home in southeast England, eschewing the more formal holiday traditions at the queen’s Sandringham Estate. In an interview with the Telegraph, Carole Middleton revealed that she places a Christmas tree in each of her grandchildren’s rooms “so that they can decorate it themselves.” They’ve also vacationed together on the Caribbean island of Mustique. In 2015, Carole Middleton was described as a hands-on grandmother who was just like “any other nan—[a] real mother hen.”

It seems this is not only a royal family—but a close-knit one.
