While Prince William may be most visible out and about at royal engagements or taking part in high-profile mental health campaigns - his day job actually looks a lot different.

The Duke of Cambridge, 37, told the Daily Telegraph that he reads and replies to two boxes of paperwork among other tasks.

His schedule will also see him receive handwritten letters from Prince Charles about work, with a source telling the paper they are “the closest they’ve ever been in that sense”.

Additionally, he’ll communicate via text, email and phone call with Kensington Palace staff, and hold frequent meetings with the Queen.

But while other parts of William’s day may vary, “palace insiders” said that doing the school run is “sacred” for the father-of-three.

He shares picking up and dropping off Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, four, at Thomas’s Battersea school with Kate Middleton, 37.

The second-in-line to the throne, who also has one-year-old son Prince Louis, additionally opened up about taking over his 70-year-old father’s Duchy of Cornwall work.

“I know a tiny amount,” he said, of his farming experience.

“I’ve got the interest and the passion. The countryside is deep in my heart.

“I want to learn and know more about farming, but the countryside and the way of life and the best people in the countryside is what I grew up with. I’m not a London boy.”

His father ran the rural private Duchy estate for more than 50 years and has grown it into a £1bn business.

Now, power is being transferred over to William, who will be in charge of maintaining the revenue streams that fund “public, charitable and private activities and those of his family”, according to the estate’s website.
