This Definitely Isn't the Last We've Seen of Principal Honey on "Riverdale"

Warning: Riverdale season four spoilers ahead.

Season four is officially over, and another enemy of the core four has been defeated, though this time it's less clear if Mr. Honey was really an enemy at all, or rather the only adult figure in all of Riverdale who was actually doing something about the murder, crime, and high schoolers who run rampant around town without an inch of responsibility. Either way, I think it's safe to say that this isn't the last we've seen of Mr. Honey. In the meantime, here's everything you need to know about the breakout character of Riverdale season four.

Who is Principal Honey?

After Principal Weatherbee most likely "ascended" with The Farm at the end of season three, and then seemingly helped lead them to freedom this season, Riverdale High needed a new principal. But while Weatherbee was never one to bother his students too much as they went about fighting bad guys and taking down drug rings, Honey makes it clear very quickly early on that he is whipping the high school into shape.

He proved very quickly that he was not one to be messed with, starting off his tenure by reprimanding Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica after they were late to their first day of school. And his declarations don't stop there. Throughout the season, as students continued to make mistakes and engage in various questionable activities, Honey punished them, barring most of our fave seniors from prom before eventually canceling the event all together.

Who plays him?

Principal Honey is portrayed by Kerr Smith, whom The Fosters fans may recognize as Robert Quinn. Kerr is no stranger to teen dramas as he was also on Dawson's Creek for many years back in the 90s and early 2000s.

What's to come for Principal Honey?

While Mr. Honey was undoubtedly a villain throughout season four, it isn't until the finale, after the teens finally take him down, that we see him in another light. Yes, he tried to cancel prom and he stopped Reggie and Kevin from posting weird sexual tickling videos on the Internet, but he also did a lot of good for the school. And he may be the only adult in town holding the kids responsible for their actions. In fact, it's hard to step away from the season four finale without looking back at all of Honey's actions throughout the season and thinking, "Hm, yes, he was harsh, but maybe he was right in doing that."

Don't worry, though, because it seems like Honey will have time for some redemption. As he walks out of Riverdale High, cardboard box in hand, he informs the students that he has taken the position of headmaster at Stonewall Prep. So, Mr. Honey is still nearby, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see him again in season five.
