Protect|ED Reminds School Districts Nationwide to Apply for Federal COVID-19 Funding

·3 min read

The deadline to apply for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is July 1, 2022

CINCINNATI, June 16, 2022--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Protect|ED, a trusted indoor air quality consultant for the education sector, wants to get the word out to school districts to apply for federal COVID-19 funding before the application window closes.

The Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) grant funding will reimburse districts up to 100 percent for COVID-related expenses, including upgrades supporting enhanced indoor air quality.

Eligible districts must submit a COVID-19 Request for Public Assistance (RPA) by July 1, 2022. Once the RPA is submitted, applicants then have until December 31st, 2022, to submit further project details. More information about the grant can be found here.

Protect|ED helps school leaders navigate federal grants and identify indoor air quality solutions that works best for their schools.

"Parents want to know school leaders are doing everything they can to ensure the health and well-being of their children in the classroom," said C.J. MacConnell, President and Co-Founder of Protect|ED. "Districts should not miss out on the opportunity to access funding resources to make vital improvements to enhance the quality of air in their schools. This is an area we know has been traditionally underfunded across the country. We look forward to working with districts who share our commitment to doing better for our students."

Leaders in Clean Air

Protect|ED is perhaps most well-known for its air purification unit, the WellAir Protect 900W with NanoStrike™ Technology. The medical-grade equipment is ideal for the academic setting. The slim, lightweight unit can be easily mounted on a wall. It is movable, requires no installation costs and uses less energy than a light bulb. It also requires no maintenance, and its effectiveness does not degrade over time. It also is whisper quiet and won’t disrupt the learning environment. NanoStrike™ is 100 percent reimbursable if districts apply for this federal grant before the application window closes.

Over the course of a K-12 education, a child will spend more than 15,000 hours at school. Classrooms, cafeterias, libraries, and gymnasiums — even when cleaned to high standards — are reservoirs for biological and chemical contaminants. The U.S.’s K-12 education system has been plagued with poor air quality for decades and the rise of COVID-19 only compounded the issue.

While there are several technologies that capture pathogens such as allergens on the market (ie. HVAC filters), there are very few that actually eliminate harmful micro-organisms. The patented NanoStrike™ technology is the ideal complement to filters to create a healthier educational environment for students and faculty. The proven technology is rooted in science and has been embraced by the medical community for the past decade. The system is used by world-renowned medical institutions such as the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic.
