The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), announced that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has issued an order partially approving DP&L’s November 29th request to implement rates consistent with its most recent Standard Service Offer approved by the PUCO in 2016 and based on its first Electric Security Plan (ESP 1). An important component of DP&L’s request, the Rate Stability Charge (RSC) will be reinstated, allowing DP&L to make investments to its transmission and distribution system to support basic reliability in the short-term.
"Today’s PUCO decision is a first step for DP&L to begin to financially recover from the PUCO’s November 21st decision disallowing DP&L’s Distribution Modernization Rider (DMR) in customer rates. We will continue to work with the PUCO on a long-term solution to enable DP&L to provide customers the safe, reliable and affordable service they expect and to modernize the grid for the future," said Vince Parisi DP&L president and CEO.
DP&L continues to maintain lowest residential rates among Ohio’s investor owned utilities and some of the lowest residential rates in the country.
