MONTRÉAL, May 31, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - On May 28 , the LOGISTEC family launched an exciting tree planting initiative in partnership with Tree Canada, to build on its rich heritage and strengthen its commitment to sustainability and to the communities where they live and operate, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.

"Sustainability is a core value for us at LOGISTEC. We live and work in the communities we serve and raise our families there, which is why we are so committed to and excited about this partnership with Tree Canada," explains Norman Desjardins , General Manager, Contrecœur, LOGISTEC.

A ceremonial tree planting celebration on May 28 kicked-off the partnership that will see over 50 trees planted in Contrecœur, Québec, which is a key community for LOGISTEC.

"As we, at LOGISTEC, evolve and grow in our marine and environmental sectors, so do our communities. We're committed to taking concrete actions that align with both our vision and values as well as with those of the communities we work with," reinforces Madeleine Paquin , President and CEO, LOGISTEC Corporation.

Shovels in hand, in collaboration with the Mayor of Contrecœur, Maud Allaire , the Port of Montreal and Tree Canada, the LOGISTEC family was hard at work at Cartier-Richard Park and Joseph-Emilien-Chaput Park to plant trees to benefit the generations of today and tomorrow.

"We are delighted that we were able to plant a total of 58 trees on May 28 in our Cartier -Richard and Joseph-Emilien-Chaput parks. We introduced a variety of 20 different trees that will help promote better biodiversity in our parks, create an even more lush canopy of leaves, embellish the parks for our citizens, improve air quality and help control the progression of the emerald ash borer. A big thank you to LOGISTEC, its partners and all of the volunteers, for choosing Contrecœur as the launch city for this important initiative and for working together with the City of Contrecœur team!," cheered Maud Allaire , the Mayor of Contrecœur.

A plaque to commemorate this tree planting partnership will be proudly displayed in each of the two parks picked by LOGISTEC. For LOGISTEC, a big part of being sustainable goes beyond a single action. It is more about engaging with our communities with tangible actions that have a positive and long-lasting impact. In a broader context, not only do trees provide oxygen, but they also help to reduce storm water runoff, erosion and pollution of waterways. In addition, trees clean our air and provide habitat for wildlife.

Contrecœur is the perfect location to launch this important initiative. As part of the Port of Montreal , a key partner of LOGISTEC, Contrecœur is home to many members of the LOGISTEC family who we wish to see grow and evolve.
