Puxin (NYSE:NEW) Shareholders Booked A 8.7% Gain In The Last Year

Passive investing in index funds can generate returns that roughly match the overall market. But you can significantly boost your returns by picking above-average stocks. For example, the Puxin Limited (NYSE:NEW) share price is up 8.7% in the last year, clearly besting than the market return of around 1.6% (not including dividends). That's a solid performance by our standards! We'll need to follow Puxin for a while to get a better sense of its share price trend, since it hasn't been listed for particularly long.

Check out our latest analysis for Puxin

Puxin isn't a profitable company, so it is unlikely we'll see a strong correlation between its share price and its earnings per share (EPS). Arguably revenue is our next best option. When a company doesn't make profits, we'd generally expect to see good revenue growth. Some companies are willing to postpone profitability to grow revenue faster, but in that case one does expect good top-line growth.

Puxin grew its revenue by 31% last year. That's a fairly respectable growth rate. While the share price performed well, gaining 8.7% over twelve months, you could argue the revenue growth warranted it. If the company can maintain the revenue growth, the share price could go higher still. But it's crucial to check profitability and cash flow before forming a view on the future.

A Different Perspective

Puxin shareholders should be happy with the total gain of 8.7% over the last twelve months. And the share price momentum remains respectable, with a gain of 46% in the last three months. Demand for the stock from multiple parties is pushing the price higher; it could be that word is getting out about its virtues as a business.
