QuickLogic Adds New Gestures to SenseMe Algorithm Library

Zacks Equity Research

QuickLogic Corporation QUIK, a developer of low-power customizable semiconductor solutions, expanded its extensive SenseMe portfolio of industry-leading sensor algorithms with the addition of new user contexts and gestures. These sensor processing solutions have been tested and validated as being compliant with Android CTS 5.1.

The new features include an enhanced low energy pedometer, a "swimming" context and a special "wake-up" gesture, which is optimized for smartwatches.

The new low energy pedometer algorithm is created to capture slow, gentle steps, which are the toughest type to capture, with enhanced accuracy. It builds up on and enhances SenseMe library's best-in-class pedometer.

The new swimming context provides enhanced fitness measurements with stroke tracking for freestyle swimming. Together with running and biking contexts, which are presently available in the SenseMe library, the swimming context will allow OEMs (Original equipment manufacturers) to support a full triathlon user mode.

Considered a vital element in smartwatch designs, the SenseMe algorithm library provides OEMs "wake up" gesture choices that are intended for specific use cases. Its new “wake up" gesture optimizes wearable display activation, as it is programmed to turn on the display when it senses a sequence of movements consisting of the user lifting his/her hand from the side, rotating the wrist and then pausing.

The QuickLogic sensor processing solutions — which comprise SenseMe algorithms and the ArcticLink 3 S2 ultra-low power sensor hub — is compliant with Android CTS 5.1. This ensures a consistent experience for device OEMs, and facilitates the large group of Android developers to create distinctive, product-differentiating applications and use cases.

QuickLogic develops and markets low-power customizable semiconductor solutions for smartphones, tablets, wearable devices and mobile enterprise products. QuickLogic’s complete, distinctive solutions lend momentum to OEMs in heralding new wearable applications to the market.

QuickLogic presently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Better-ranked stocks in the semiconductor space include eMagin Corp. EMAN, On Track Innovations Ltd. OTIV and Pixelworks, Inc. PXLW, each carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
