Rain dampens fertilizer makers

Wet spring weather delayed plantings, slowing fertilizer sales. Agrium (AGU) said Q1 EPS fell 22% to $1.03, 4 cents shy. Sales declined 10% to 3.2 bil. It forecast Q2 EPS of $4.60-$5.40 vs. views for $5.29. Shares rose 0.7% to 94.86. Rentech Nitrogen Partners' (RNF) earnings per basic unit declined 25.5% to 38 cents, missing by 14 cents. Revenue climbed 55% to $59.6 mil, also missing. Shares fell 2.9% to 33.55. CF Industries (CF) climbed 2.2% to 194.99 a day after it topped analysts' earnings forecasts by a slight margin.
