Raj Nair Leaves Ford Over "Inappropriate Behavior"
Raj Nair, preisdent of Ford Motor Company North America, is leaving the company effective immediately over "innapropriate behavior," per a Ford statement. The decision came after an internal investigation into his conduct. Nair's replacement will be announced shortly.
"We made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration," said Ford CEO Jim Hackett in a statement. "Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values."
In a statement, Nair said "I sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the Company and I have always espoused. I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future."
Ford did not disclose specifics on Nair's innapropriate conduct, and when reached on the phone by Automotive News reporter Michael Martinez, Nair declined to comment.
Prior to stepping up as president of Ford North America, Nair was Ford's global chief technology officer. He played a big role in getting the new Ford GT into production and back to sports-car racing, including Ford's victorious return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 50 years after the company's first victory there.
