RBS: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

EDINBURGH, Britain (AP) _ Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (RBS) on Friday reported net income of $561 million in its fourth quarter.

The bank, based in Edinburgh, Britain, said it had earnings of 6 cents per share.

The bank posted revenue of $4.77 billion in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $3.93 billion, which fell short of Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported profit of $2.75 billion, or 35 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $17.68 billion.

RBS shares have increased 12 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 21 percent in the last 12 months.
