EDINBURGH, Britain (AP) _ Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (RBS) on Friday reported a loss of $5.77 billion in its fourth quarter.
The bank, based in Edinburgh, Britain, said it had a loss of $1 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and restructuring costs, were 19 cents per share.
The bank posted revenue of $5.06 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $4.31 billion.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $7.13 billion, or $1.61 per share. Revenue was reported as $17.07 billion.
RBS shares have climbed 7 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Friday, shares hit $5.92, a decline of 10 percent in the last 12 months.
